About

About the blog:

I started this blog in December of 2008, over a year after moving into our loft. We moved from a three (ish) bedroom home on the outskirts of Portland to our current no bedroom loft in an area of downtown known as the Pearl District. With this move came downsizing, street parking, and the loss of a guest bed that came in so handy on the nights my husband is in a deep snore. But, we love it here. This little loft has felt more like a home than any of our other houses have, and this little piece of downtown has felt more like a neighborhood than any other we’ve lived in. So, I wanted to document it. The challenges, the new adventures, and all the stuff in between.

What I didn’t realize when I started this blog was the role my husband and our relationship would play. However, it’s a huge part of living here. We can’t go to separate rooms of the house to escape from each other, nor can we watch TV separately, nor can we both have a phone conversation at the same time without one of us stepping into “the phone booth”, which doubles as his closet. So needless to say a lot of humorous situations can arise, and I do my best to document the most fitting. Early in the blog I once referred to him as my live in husband, and the name has stuck ever since. And no, because I have actually been asked this, I don’t have any “live outs” – thank you.

About us:

We don’t have any kids. We don’t have any pets. We’ve killed two houseplants, but currently have a very strong bamboo shoot and an adopted houseplant that looks 85% healthy.

We travel because we love it, not because we’re “doing it while we can”. I met the live in at college when I was 19 years old, we’ve been married seven years {the best years being #1 and #6}, and we were born in the same hospital. We are blessed.
